The Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units will hold its 25th annual Working and Regional Group meetings virtually from 27 January to 7 February 2025, bringing together more than 800 representatives from member Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs), international partners and observers. The two-week programme is framed around strengthening practical information sharing and cooperation to address money laundering, predicate offences and terrorist financing. The agenda includes a joint project with the Financial Action Task Force, INTERPOL and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime on effective informal international cooperation, and a revision of the Egmont Group Principles for Information Exchange between FIUs led by the Information Exchange and Policy and Procedures working groups. Delegates will also progress work on asset recovery, environmental crime proceeds, an IT tool to automate analysis of organisational questionnaires, updates on emerging money laundering and terrorist financing risks and methods, and initiatives on technology strategy, communications, and training, including an electronic library and a repository of trainers. Further outputs planned through the meetings include preparations for the Egmont Group’s 31st Plenary and 30-year anniversary event in Luxembourg, workshops linked to the ESW and ECOFEL certification programme, and the launch of the Best Egmont Case Award competition in February.
