Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Funds (SBS) issued a public warning after detecting multiple entities operating in the country that promote taking money from the public without SBS authorisation. The regulator cautioned that these schemes may not pay the promised returns and may also fail to return the principal. The SBS said the entities typically present themselves as investment specialists in various sectors, promise high interest rates, and in some cases claim that notarised contracts and the delivery of a negotiable instrument would make the client’s money risk-free. It reiterated that anyone seeking to take or receive money from third parties in the form of deposits, loans or any other modality and place those funds as credit or investment requires prior SBS authorisation, and it published a list of entities not authorised to take money from the public under any modality: InverPerú Global S.A.C.; Capital Infinity Perú S.A.C. (Capital Infinity Corporation); Capital Fintech S.A.C.; Lordglobal E.I.R.L. (Lord Global); BlackVank; Inmobiliaria Rengiffo & Asociados S.A.C. (Rengiffo & Asociados/Grupo Rengiffo); Dominale Service E.I.R.L.; and Arceo Corporación S.A.C. (Arceo Inversiones/Arceo Holdings).
