The South Korea Financial Services Commission (FSC) reported that Vice Chairman Kwon Dae-young met Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Chi in Seoul to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation on capital markets, following the Korea–Vietnam summit meeting held on 11 August 2025. The meeting included representatives from the FSC’s Securities and Futures Commission and Vietnam’s State Securities Commission, as well as leadership from Vietnam’s key market infrastructures. Vietnam’s side highlighted the stable operation of the Korea Exchange trading system after it became operational on 5 May, and proposed closer cooperation on capital market supervision and virtual asset regulation through policy and supervisory experience sharing. Kwon pointed to recent milestones in bilateral financial cooperation, including confirmation letters from the State Bank of Vietnam permitting the Industrial Bank of Korea and Korea Development Bank to set up local operations in Vietnam after a wait of around six to eight years, and the discussions concluded with agreement to further strengthen cooperation in insurance and fintech.
