The Austrian National Bank (OeNB) organised a prevention day aimed at helping young people recognise online fraud and manage digital risks, marking its first active participation in the International Fraud Awareness Week. Around 100 students took part in the programme. Workshops covered counterfeit detection, digital security strategies and current online scam patterns. Students examined banknote security features, practised identifying fake content, took attacker and defender roles in a cybersecurity game and tested knowledge through interactive formats. The event also included exchanges with security experts from the Federal Ministry of the Interior under the GEMEINSAM.SICHER initiative, with the stated goal that participants leave with a solid understanding of common fraud methods such as phishing and credit card fraud.
