The European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) has established a Consultative Expert Group on Data Use in Insurance, following a call for candidates launched in December 2024. The group’s findings are intended to support EIOPA’s future work on data sharing and on emerging challenges and opportunities linked to digitalisation, including considerations around ethical data use. The multidisciplinary group brings together high-level experts from the insurance industry, academia, consumer associations and stakeholder organisations. EIOPA published the membership list, which includes representatives from insurers, consultancies, universities and stakeholder bodies such as BEUC, Finance Watch and Insurance Europe. Work is expected to begin in March 2025 and be finalised within 12 months.
