The Central Bank of Latvia has granted Nodu Digital SIA a licence to provide crypto-asset services and a separate licence to operate as a payment institution. The crypto-asset licence allows the company to exchange crypto-assets for funds and provide crypto-asset transfer services on behalf of clients, while the payment institution licence allows it to execute payments, including transfers to payment accounts. Nodu Digital SIA is the 10th company licensed by the Central Bank of Latvia under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. The bank noted that MiCA, which took effect in late 2024, created a single EU framework for the crypto-asset sector and requires crypto-asset service providers to obtain authorisation, after which they may offer services across the EU through the cross-border notification mechanism. It also pointed prospective applicants to its licensing guides, crypto-asset classification overview and pre-licensing consultations.
