The Australian Securities & Investments Commission announced that Joanne Jennifer Pellew of Western Australia has been convicted, following an ASIC investigation, of three offences of dishonestly using her position as a director and one offence of managing a corporation while disqualified. A jury in the District Court of Western Australia found her guilty on those counts and not guilty on three other counts of managing corporations while disqualified. The convictions relate to three transfers in May 2018 totaling about AUD 739,655 from Ochre Training Pty Ltd to Ochre Workforce Solutions Pty Ltd, and to her participation between 20 and 27 June 2019 in decisions affecting Ochre People Pty Ltd, including entering a labour hire agreement with the Western Australian Country Health Service, while she was disqualified from managing corporations. She had been disqualified from managing corporations since 20 February 2019 after becoming bankrupt. Each offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions prosecuted the case following an ASIC referral.
