The Bank of Greece reported that total assets of occupational pension funds increased by EUR 13 million quarter on quarter to EUR 2.859 billion at the end of the first quarter of 2026, up 0.5% from EUR 2.846 billion in the previous quarter. The increase was driven by higher holdings of debt securities and investment fund shares, while deposits were unchanged and equity holdings declined. Debt securities rose to EUR 1.216 billion from EUR 1.184 billion, mainly reflecting net purchases of domestic and foreign bonds that were partly offset by lower bond prices. Their share of total assets increased to 42.5% from 41.6%. Investment fund holdings increased to EUR 1.048 billion from EUR 1.035 billion on net purchases of domestic and foreign shares, partly offset by lower fund share prices, lifting their share to 36.7% from 36.4%. Deposits remained at EUR 96 million, or 3.4% of total assets. Equity holdings fell to EUR 448 million from EUR 463 million, mainly because of lower equity prices, reducing their share to 15.7% from 16.3%.
