The Central Bank of Brazil announced that Brazil's National Institute of Industrial Property has recognized Pix as a high renown trademark. The decision makes Pix the first trademark owned by a public body to receive that status and extends its protection from financial services class 36 to all 45 Nice Classification market classes. That broader coverage means trademark applications filed by third parties using the Pix name or its components will be automatically rejected, helping prevent improper associations with unrelated products and services. The recognition places Pix among 202 trademarks out of more than 2 million that hold high renown status in Brazil. Under Brazil's Industrial Property Law, that status grants special protection across all sectors of activity. The Central Bank said the application was supported by market research showing that about 141.7 million Brazilians recognize the Pix brand, awareness exceeds 70% across all population groups, and nine in 10 respondents who know Pix correctly identify its field of activity, with accuracy above 79% in every population segment.
