The International Association of Insurance Supervisors announced a new committee-level organisational structure, effective 1 January 2026, to align its governance and operations with delivery of the Strategic Plan 2025-2029. The change replaces the existing Macroprudential, Policy Development and Implementation and Assessment Committees with three re-scoped committees and appoints their leadership. Under the new structure, the Monitoring and Risk Assessment Committee will continue monitoring global insurance sector developments and risks, including the potential build-up of systemic risk. The Standards and Supervisory Practices Committee will set and maintain IAIS global standards while supporting members’ implementation and promoting good supervisory practices, and the Implementation Assessment Committee will focus exclusively on assessing globally consistent and comprehensive implementation of IAIS standards. Chairs were announced as Dieter Hendrickx (Monitoring and Risk Assessment Committee), Farzana Badat and Judi French as co-chairs (Standards and Supervisory Practices Committee), and Vicky White (Implementation Assessment Committee). By-law amendments to implement the changes were approved at the Annual General Meeting, and committee vice chairs are expected to be finalised in early 2026. A process is underway to transition committee memberships, and the IAIS organigram and webpage will be updated when the new structure takes effect. The mandates of the Budget Committee and the Audit and Risk Committee remain unchanged, and the IAIS indicated there will be no net change in the types of work it undertakes.
