The World Bank Group announced that the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has closed its first securitization transaction, a USD 510 million collateralized loan obligation (CLO) designed to attract institutional private capital into emerging markets by repackaging IFC loans into rated securities. The CLO was listed on the London Stock Exchange and includes a USD 320 million senior tranche sold to private investors, a USD 130 million mezzanine tranche insured by a consortium of credit insurers, and a USD 60 million equity tranche. Goldman Sachs acted as arranger, and the World Bank Group positioned the structure as a way to mobilize private investment at scale while recycling its own capital to support additional projects. The World Bank Group said it will launch regular issuances to establish a scalable and replicable model, building on work developed over two years and aligned with priorities identified by the Private Sector Investment Lab.
