The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) has ordered the blocking of three websites for illegally offering insurance services. The sites identified are www.phenixinsurancebroker.it, www.lauriomotori.com and lauriomotori.com, and faraoni.assicurazioneroma.it. Blocking is being carried out by internet service providers operating in Italy and may take a few days for technical reasons. IVASS reported that the total number of abusive websites blocked since the start of its blocking powers in November 2023 has reached 352, and it urged consumers to be cautious about policy offers made via instant messaging (including WhatsApp) and requests for payment through prepaid credit cards, and to verify that websites appear on IVASS’s official lists of supervised intermediaries and insurers.
