The Central Bank of Seychelles, together with the Seychelles Bankers Association, held a pilot outreach event for stevedores and dockworkers at Zone 14, Ile Du Port to improve access to banking services and strengthen financial inclusion. The half-day session focused on providing financial knowledge and encouraging participants to open bank accounts as a pathway to moving their financial activities into the formal banking system and accessing a wider range of financial products and services. Ahead of the event, preparatory meetings brought together the Central Bank of Seychelles, port operators employing dockworkers, the Seychelles Bankers Association, commercial banks and the Seychelles Credit Union to align expectations and support a smooth on-the-day process. The initiative was structured as a pilot to test the effectiveness of this outreach model, with the potential for similar efforts to be extended to other underserved segments of the population.
