The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) published its Monthly Synthesis report with consolidated 2024 data for the insurance, private pension and capitalisation sector it supervises, showing total revenues of BRL 435.56 billion, up 12.2% year on year, or 7.6% in real terms after inflation. December 2024 collections totalled BRL 40.97 billion. The sector returned BRL 241.42 billion to society in 2024 through claims payments, redemptions, benefits and prize draws, up 6.8% from the prior year, including BRL 20.38 billion in December. SUSEP highlighted strong growth in personal insurance, with VGBL (Vida Gerador de Benefício Livre) up 16.3% versus 2023 and other major personal lines growing by more than 10%, while overall non-life performance was weighed by slower growth in motor insurance despite double-digit increases in several other property and commercial lines; capitalisation products recorded BRL 20.38 billion of revenue in 2024, up 6.1% year on year.
