The Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC) participated in a regional workshop and investor roundtable in Bangkok under the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Climate Investment Project, focusing on strategies to strengthen green project pipelines in emerging markets. SERC Director General Sou Socheat joined a panel on national perspectives on green finance and outlined Cambodia’s progress and policy frameworks supporting sustainable finance in the securities market. In opening remarks to the investor roundtable, he highlighted ongoing work to develop regulatory frameworks to support the issuance of green, social, sustainability, sustainability-linked and transition finance instruments, with alignment to international and regional standards intended to enhance credibility and cross-border acceptance. The workshop and roundtable also focused on constraints to scaling sustainable finance, including limited availability of investable, bankable green projects, and sought to connect investors directly with green project owners.
