The State Bank of Vietnam participated in a National Cybersecurity Association workshop on protecting national financial security in the digital era, where Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dung and SBV officials outlined the banking sector’s digitalisation progress and the central bank’s approach to information security and cybercrime prevention. SBV’s Information Technology Department reported that many banks now execute over 95% of transactions via digital channels, while financial switching and electronic clearing systems process an average of more than 41 million transactions per day and the interbank electronic payment system processes over VND 1.55 quadrillion in value daily. The SBV has issued information security policies aligned with international standards and has monitored implementation across the sector, with 100% of credit institutions having adopted information security strategies or plans and internal rules, alongside technical investments to protect information systems. Discussions also focused on increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks and online fraud targeting customers’ assets, highlighting the need for closer coordination among regulators, credit institutions, payment intermediaries and law enforcement, and referencing the United Nations cybercrime convention as a channel to strengthen cross-border cooperation and domestic legal frameworks. The workshop also marked the launch of the project "Protecting national financial security in the digital era".
