Argentina’s Ministry of Finance reported that Economy Minister Luis Caputo met International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva in Washington, DC as he began participating in the 2025 IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings. The discussions focused on the market’s reaction to the implementation of the new programme and its robustness amid heightened global market volatility, alongside the IMF’s role in supporting international financial stability. The meeting included Vice Minister José Luis Daza, Finance Secretary Pablo Quirno, Central Bank of Argentina President Santiago Bausili and Vice President Vladimir Werning, and Argentina’s representative to the IMF Leonardo Madcur. It was described as the first meeting following the programme’s approval, with IMF authorities recognising the economic team’s work and highlighting the importance of continued constructive engagement. Caputo and the delegation also participated in a JPMorgan investor seminar on Argentina’s economic policy and attended the first G20 finance ministers session on macroeconomic issues and global financial stability.
