The Central Bank of Uruguay, the National Statistics Institute and the Ministry of Tourism signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen tourism statistics by updating the methodology for inbound and outbound tourism surveys and improving the institutions’ technical capabilities. The resulting data will support tourism policy and provide better inputs for national and international accounts. The agreement covers reviews of survey methodologies, questionnaires and sampling designs, alongside training, technical assistance and specialized monitoring. It also establishes permanent coordination among the three institutions as the central bank changes the reference year to 2025 for the National Accounts, Balance of Payments and International Investment Position.
