Bank Indonesia reported that Indonesia’s QRIS Cross-Border initiative received the 50-in-5 Awards 2026 in the Collaboration category. Organized by the Digital Public Goods Alliance and Co-Develop, the award recognizes the initiative’s use of interoperable domestic payment systems to enable inclusive cross-border transactions without requiring participating countries to adopt the same infrastructure. The network, first implemented in 2022 and expanded to China in 2026, covers cooperation with Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and China. Through July 2026, users from partner countries completed 21 million transactions in Indonesia worth IDR 5.90 trillion, while Indonesian users made 4.67 million transactions in partner countries worth IDR 1.73 trillion. QRIS served 45.46 million merchants at that point, 96.69% of them micro, small and medium enterprises, allowing businesses to accept payments from international visitors through their existing infrastructure. Bank Indonesia plans to expand QRIS Cross-Border to potential partners with strong economic, trade, tourism and mobility links, adapting the established interoperability framework to each country’s domestic arrangements.

Bank Indonesia reported that QRIS Cross-Border received the 50-in-5 Awards 2026 for collaboration on interoperable digital payment infrastructure. The central bank plans to extend the network to additional partner countries.
