Bank Indonesia outlined measures to help micro, small and medium enterprises adopt circular business models, including Sustainable MSME Business Model Guidelines, support for converting waste into value-added products and a sustainable agriculture innovation competition. The central bank said waste processing, recycling and resource reuse can improve business efficiency, create new revenue opportunities and strengthen MSMEs’ position in industrial supply chains. The 2026 Inclusive and Sustainable Entrepreneur Pioneer Competition attracted 1,950 registrations, with the 200 best proposals set to receive capacity building and coaching. Five leading innovations will be offered opportunities for business matching, collaboration with Bank Indonesia and comparative studies in countries with advanced agricultural sectors. Bank Indonesia is also working with MSMEs to turn shredded banknotes that are no longer fit for circulation into souvenirs and biochar raw material.
