The Central Bank of Belize, Financial Intelligence Unit and Financial Services Commission have signed governance agreements establishing a legal and operational framework for their shared use of the Sanctions Registry System. Developed by the Central Bank, the secure supervisory platform supports the management and analysis of sanctions-related information to strengthen risk-based supervision of money laundering, terrorist financing and other financial crime risks. Each authority will access and use the system independently within its own supervisory environment and statutory responsibilities. The shared platform is intended to improve the consistency of regulatory information management and facilitate interagency collaboration where appropriate, building on the existing memorandum of understanding among the three authorities.
