The Central Bank of Estonia published its monthly flash estimate of the balance of payments for the last month but one and outlined how the estimate is compiled and later revised. The bank explained that the quarterly balance of payments is compiled from a combined system of representative primary data sources, including company surveys, while the monthly balance of payments draws on a considerably smaller database. The monthly estimate incorporates as much data as possible for the month reported, including administrative data sources and reports on international payments, but remains partly subjective and is therefore described as an estimate. Once the quarterly balance of payments is released, the monthly figures are adjusted accordingly, and the statistical release is presented separately from economic policy releases. The balance of payments for the third quarter of 2025 is scheduled for publication on 10 December 2025.
