The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority has published its March 2026 suite of quarterly industry aggregate insurance statistics, covering general insurance, life insurance, private health insurance performance, and private health insurance membership and benefits data. The release updates market-level information on financial performance and position, capital adequacy, investments, and other sector-specific indicators. General insurance statistics include industry aggregates with class of business and state-level data. Life insurance statistics provide industry aggregates together with product group detail and a split between ordinary and superannuation business. Private health insurance performance statistics cover aggregate financial performance, position and capital adequacy, while the broader private health insurance statistical release covers membership, coverage, benefits paid, medical gap, medical devices or human tissue products, medical services, and historical trend reports. These publications reflect APRA's new insurance reporting framework effective from 1 July 2023, and APRA notes that historical data collected on the previous basis is not directly comparable. For general insurance, institution-level statistics remain on hiatus, with APRA intending to consult on confidentiality of data collected under the new reporting standards and on updates to its institution-level insurance statistics. The next quarterly releases are scheduled for August 2026 for the June 2026 edition.
