The Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre and the Financial Intelligence Unit of Naoero are co-hosting regional forums in Sydney to strengthen cooperation against organized crime, money laundering, fraud, scams and other cross-border financial crime. The meetings bring together Pacific financial intelligence units and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulators to improve intelligence sharing, supervisory capability and coordinated responses to common threats. The Pacific Financial Intelligence Community plenary, held from Oct. 12-14, comprises 15 financial intelligence units, including those of Australia and New Zealand. A joint session with the Pacific Supervisors Forum on Oct. 14 will connect intelligence and regulatory agencies, followed by the supervisors forum on Oct. 15. Discussions will cover practical collaboration, shared regulatory challenges, resource sharing, consistent supervision and public-private partnerships.
