The Central Bank of Chile has made public the minutes of its former Monetary Council for the period 1975–1989, placing 57 documents in the Bank’s digital repository as part of an institutional transparency initiative. The former Monetary Council was the issuing institute’s governing body from 1975 to 1989, chaired by the Minister of Finance and comprising the Ministers of Economy, Development and Reconstruction, the Director of National Planning, the President of the Central Bank of Chile and a representative of the President of the Republic. It was responsible for setting monetary, credit, capital markets, foreign trade and tariff, foreign exchange and savings policy in line with rules set by the government. The publication implements the Central Bank’s voluntary dissemination policy approved in 2019 and updated by Council Agreement No 2763-01-260115.
