Greece’s Ministry of National Economy and Finance announced that its General Directorate of Fiscal Audits (GDDE) was recognised for a second consecutive year at the Compliance Awards, winning in the Best Compliance Team – Public Sector category. The award related to GDDE’s reform and modernisation of its compliance regulatory framework, including changes to the regulatory framework for imposing fiscal corrections intended to strengthen transparency and audit effectiveness. The ministry reported that, from 2018 to 30 June 2025, GDDE carried out 1,518 audits, issuing fiscal correction decisions totalling EUR 8,535,444 and surcharge decisions totalling EUR 12,222,815. For the 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025 audit period, it completed 271 audits, resulting in 39 fiscal correction decisions of EUR 3,963,900.57 and 19 surcharge decisions of EUR 271,574.53. The event was organised by the Hellenic Association of Compliance Professionals, and the award was accepted by GDDE Director General Dr Georgios Georgiou.
