The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) announced that Thomas Hirschi will leave the authority effective 31 August 2025, stepping down as Head of the Banks division to pursue a new career outside FINMA. Hirschi joined FINMA’s Executive Board in 2020 as Head of the Asset Management division and assumed responsibility for the Banks division in February 2022. His tenure included laying the foundations for processing licence applications from portfolio managers, overseeing bank supervision amid economic and geopolitical change, and involvement in managing the CS crisis and subsequent follow-up work; he also served as interim Deputy CEO from 1 October 2023 to 31 March 2024.
