The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission hosted a plenary meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions’ European Regional Committee in Nicosia, convening European securities regulators to discuss IOSCO priorities and shared supervisory issues. The meeting also provided the platform for CySEC to present a new educational document, the “CySEC Investor Guide - The dangers of social media: Unveiling the world of finfluencers”, focused on retail investor risks. More than 52 participants attended, with the European Regional Committee comprising 57 member authorities. Discussions covered retail investor online safety, supervisory technology, other market developments and regulatory initiatives, and practical insights on mitigating risks linked to social media and finfluencers, alongside IOSCO’s work to promote implementation of globally agreed standards in areas including sustainable finance and crypto assets.
