Hong Kong's Process Review Panel for the Insurance Authority (PRP) published its 2024 Annual Report setting out observations and recommendations from a review of the Insurance Authority’s (IA) internal procedures, based on a selection of 20 cases concluded or discontinued in 2023. The cases spanned key IA regulatory functions including complaint handling, insurer authorisation and intermediary licensing, with particular attention on more complex matters involving the exercise of statutory powers such as misconduct investigations. The PRP noted the IA’s cooperation during the review and pointed to the IA’s proactive approach in addressing recommendations from the PRP’s 2023 Annual Report. The report is available on the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau’s website, and the PRP invited views from the public and market participants on its work.
