The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) has granted 88i Seguradora Digital S.A. definitive authorisation to operate property and casualty and personal insurance nationwide in the S4 segment, allowing it to operate outside the regulatory sandbox’s experimental constraints. The licence removes the limits that applied in the sandbox on the number of risks the firm could underwrite and the sums insured for the coverages it offered, and is intended to support expansion into products not permitted under the innovation programme. 88i participated in the first edition of SUSEP’s Regulatory Sandbox, and the authorisation was issued via DIORE/SUSEP Ordinance No. 110 of 26 February 2026. Across the three sandbox editions, SUSEP selected 20 insurers, of which six have already received definitive authorisation and seven have conversion processes underway. The third edition of the programme has shifted to continuous proposal intake with no fixed end date and a focus on ecological transformation and technological innovation.
