The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has published the Draft Women EquiSmart Policy 2025–2028 for public consultation, positioning it as its first comprehensive gender equality framework for SECP-regulated sectors including capital markets, insurance, non-banking finance and the corporate sector. The draft marks a shift from fragmented diversity initiatives to a more structured regulatory approach to gender inclusion, aligned with national priorities and global frameworks. It is organised around six pillars covering women’s leadership on boards, gender-disaggregated reporting, women’s entrepreneurship, gender-smart products, workplace inclusivity and institutional capacity building. The document outlines current practices, identifies gaps, and sets out recommendations with associated timelines and key stakeholders. Stakeholders are invited to submit feedback on the recommendations and action plan through the channels set out by the SECP.
