South Korea's Financial Services Commission announced that the National Growth Fund’s investment committee approved two low-interest loans totaling KRW 1.35 trillion to strengthen the country’s display and memory semiconductor supply chains. The package comprises KRW 1.3 trillion for LG Display’s next-generation organic light-emitting diode facilities and KRW 50 billion for Techwing’s expansion of high-bandwidth memory testing equipment production. LG Display plans to invest about KRW 3 trillion at its Paju facility to manufacture lower-power, higher-brightness OLED products, financing KRW 1.5 trillion internally and the remainder through the Advanced Strategic Industry Fund and private banks. Techwing’s loan will support a KRW 91.6 billion factory expansion in Cheonan amid rising demand for HBM testing equipment. Including these projects, the National Growth Fund has approved or formed KRW 16.3 trillion across 24 projects from January through July, with regional projects accounting for 42.4%.
