The Central Bank of Honduras published a communiqué outlining how it gathers information through its national System of Sectoral Economic Surveys and calling on the public, businesses and institutions to provide requested data so the Bank can produce higher-quality macroeconomic statistics for evidence-based policymaking. The survey programme draws on information collected from both public and private sources, including selected companies and households, with technical staff conducting direct interviews. Surveys are carried out according to a schedule with daily, monthly, quarterly, semiannual, annual and biennial frequencies, and the information is processed and aggregated to support indicators including gross domestic product, the consumer price index and foreign direct investment. The Bank also stated that responses are treated with strict confidentiality, used in aggregated form and applied exclusively for statistical purposes and policy decision-making. A survey fieldwork calendar is available on the Central Bank of Honduras website.
