The Central Bank of Egypt hosted the Financial Stability Board’s Regional Consultative Group for the Middle East and North Africa (RCG MENA) meeting in Sharm El-Sheikh, jointly chaired by Central Bank of Egypt Governor Hassan Abdalla and Saudi Central Bank Governor Ayman Mohammed Alsayari. The agenda covered the FSB’s recommendations for implementing the global framework for crypto-assets, progress on cross-border payment systems among member states and related FSB initiatives, and the FSB work programme for 2025. The meeting brought together governors and senior officials from RCG MENA members, including the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar Central Bank, Central Bank of Bahrain and Banque du Liban. The Central Bank of Egypt linked its hosting of the event to Egypt’s stated objective of strengthening participation in international economic forums and deepening integration with Arab and African countries.
