Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defence of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF) published an alert that eight duly constituted financial institutions registered in the System of Registry of Financial Service Providers (SIPRES) notified the authority that their identities had been impersonated, with alleged fraudsters misusing their names and branding to deceive people seeking credit. CONDUSEF indicated it had reports covering 174 institutions affected by unauthorised use of their trade name, corporate name, logo and, in some cases, fiscal or administrative data as of November 2024, and added the following eight institutions: AGROFINANCIERA DEL NOROESTE, S.A. DE C.V. SOFOM E.N.R.; DER NEUE HORIZONT RE, S.A. DE C.V.; GROW YOUR FUTURE, S.A.P.I. DE C.V. SOFOM E.N.R.; METAFINANCIERA MÉXICO, S.A. DE C.V. SOFOM E.N.R.; OPERADORA JEEVMA, S.A.P.I. DE C.V.; PROMOTORA DE PROYECTOS LEGACY S.A. DE C.V. SOFOM E.N.R.; SOLUCIONES INTEGRALES TBY, S.A. DE C.V., SOFOM, E.N.R.; and TMG FINANCIAL, S.A. DE C.V. The authority reiterated that SIPRES is available for users to check which institutions are properly constituted and registered.
