The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) launched its “Proactive insurance promotion to the regions sustainably 2025” initiative in Chiang Khan district, Loei province, positioning insurance literacy and wider take-up of insurance as practical tools for managing life, property and business risks in a tourism-dependent community. The programme combined public-sector, local-government, private-sector and insurance-industry participation, including a roundtable on responding to unexpected events that highlighted key local exposures such as fire risk in older wooden buildings. It also promoted specific covers relevant to local operators, including residential fire insurance and third-party liability insurance, and referenced an affordable residential fire insurance option priced at THB 400 per year. More than 19 life and non-life insurers ran information booths to provide insurance guidance and services, alongside a CSR disaster-preparedness session featuring community training, the handover of risk-mitigation equipment such as fire extinguishers and hoses, and an emergency response drill in the Chiang Khan walking street area.
