The Banking Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina published an update on a lecture at the University of Zenica Law Faculty focused on protecting consumers who use financial products and services, with an emphasis on the role of the banking and insurance ombudsman institutions. Lejla Smajović, Banking System Ombudsman of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Đanela Zeco, Insurance Ombudsman of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, presented third- and fourth-year students with the core elements of the consumer protection framework for banking, insurance and other financial services. Using practical examples from the ombudsmen’s mandates, the session covered complaint-handling procedures and available consumer protection mechanisms, followed by discussion and Q&A, framed as part of ongoing cooperation with academia to raise awareness of users’ rights and obligations.
