The National Bank of Georgia published remarks by Governor Natia Turnava to mark the official opening of the Tbilisi Finance Summit, being held for the first time this year within the framework of the Silk Road Forum. The opening session at the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre also included addresses by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili. Turnava said the summit brings together senior Georgian officials, heads of central banks from across the region, international investors, financial institutions and fintech leaders, and linked Georgia’s existing role in trade, transport and energy connectivity between Europe and Asia to an ambition to develop into a stronger financial hub. She noted that one of the summit’s co-organizers is the Global Finance and Technology Network, an international financial technology network that connects financial institutions, fintech companies and investors from Europe and Asia, and said Georgia is joining this platform.
