Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) announced that Malaysia’s Minister of Finance has approved the appointment of Encik Aznan bin Abdul Aziz as Deputy Governor for a three-year term effective 1 April 2025, overseeing the supervision and regulation sector. BNM also announced the appointment of Datuk Jessica Chew Cheng Lian as a Technical Adviser on financial stability matters following her retirement, and named Puan Cindy Siah Hooi Hoon as Assistant Governor. As Deputy Governor, Aznan will sit on BNM’s Board of Directors and Monetary Policy Committee, and continue to serve on committees including the Reserve Management Committee, Risk Management Committee, Financial Stability Committee, Joint Policy Committee, Enforcement Committee, Digital and Technology Committee and Crisis Management Committee. Cindy will be responsible for the Financial Conglomerates Supervision, Banking Supervision, Insurance and Takaful Supervision, Risk Specialist and Technology Supervision, and Payment Services Oversight departments. Aznan’s Deputy Governor term starts on 1 April 2025 and runs for three years.
