The Japan Financial Services Agency (FSA) co-sponsored the Asset Owner/Gatekeeper Venture Capital Meetup with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Japan Venture Capital Association, bringing together asset owners, gatekeepers and venture capital firms to support networking and dialogue on promoting startup investment by asset owners. The event was framed against ongoing efforts to develop the supporting environment, including the Asset Owner Principles and the Recommendations and Expectations in Venture Capital (VCRHs). The second meetup was held on 6 February 2026 at Hills House in Tokyo. The programme included opening remarks by the Japan Venture Capital Association, lectures by FSA Chairman Tomotaka Goji and Planning and Market Bureau Director Toshigo Inoue, and a lecture by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, followed by a venture capital panel and an asset owner and gatekeeper panel featuring representatives from Japan Life Insurance, the Government Pension Investment Fund and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Investment, among others.
