The Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency has authorised DIGITAL ASSETS from Split to operate as a crypto-asset service provider under the European Union Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation and Croatia’s implementing act. The decision makes DIGITAL ASSETS the third company in Croatia to receive a MiCA licence, and authorised firms are entered in Hanfa’s register and can provide services in other European Union Member States. MiCA requires firms that want to provide crypto-asset services to obtain prior authorisation from the national regulator. Hanfa’s licensing review covers organisational, staffing and capital requirements, the business plan and governance structure, the expertise and good repute of management and qualifying shareholders, and controls for risk management, IT security and anti-money laundering and terrorist financing. The framework also requires segregation of client assets and clear disclosure of services and risks. Existing virtual asset service providers may continue operating without a MiCA licence only until 1 July 2026, after which crypto-asset services may be provided only by newly licensed firms.
