The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan reported that the government recommended decisive measures to strengthen cashless settlements, develop digital banking infrastructure and facilitate electronic payment use across the country, particularly in remote districts. The recommendation formed part of the government’s review of first-half economic performance and priorities for the remainder of 2026. Real gross domestic product grew 8.2% in January-June to TJS 81.7 billion, while inflation was 2.4%. Relevant authorities must submit proposals by the end of August to identify additional sources of growth and support the government’s target of at least 8% real GDP growth for 2026.
