The Central Bank of Estonia reported that combined exports and imports of goods and services grew 7% in the second quarter of 2026 as demand improved in key export markets and domestic demand lifted imports. Exports rose 6% and imports increased 8%, contributing to a wider current account deficit of EUR 290 million, equivalent to 2.6% of gross domestic product. Goods exports grew 7%, supported by machinery, electronics and metal products, with a long-awaited recovery in exports to Finland. Services exports increased 5%, led by 17% growth in business services and a 7% rise in travel services. Goods imports climbed 12% on defense-related investment, stronger private consumption and fuel purchases, while services imports rose by slightly more than 1%. A services account surplus of more than EUR 1 billion partly offset the goods trade imbalance.
