The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission, in its role as 2026 Chair of the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF), reported on its leadership of a joint regional meeting and its co-hosting of the 2026 ASEAN Taxonomy Conference to advance ASEAN sustainable finance initiatives and support wider adoption of the ASEAN Taxonomy. A joint meeting of the Working Committee on Capital Market Development and the ACMF held on February 9 in Bohol advanced work linked to the ASEAN Economic Community Strategic Plan 2026–2030, including progress on the ASEAN Taxonomy, disclosures, sustainable finance, and capital market infrastructure, and discussed findings from the Joint Sustainable Finance Working Group Industry Advisory Panel. On February 10, the SEC and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas hosted the 2026 ASEAN Taxonomy Conference, with support from the Sustainable Finance Institute Asia (SFIA) and the Asian Development Bank, bringing together financial institutions, corporates, and other stakeholders to examine how the ASEAN Taxonomy and the mitigation co-benefit and Adaptation for Resilience (mARs) Guide could mobilize adaptation finance and promote regional adoption; the conference also marked the launch of SFIA’s All-Countries Common Equivalence Platform for Taxonomies to enable comparisons and indicative assessments across multiple taxonomies.
