The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan published a reminder on how borrowers can repay loans early, including practical points borrowers should clarify with their bank. It also restated that, since 31 August 2025, early repayment penalties may be applied only to legal entities, while individuals can repay loans early at any time without paying a penalty, including under previously signed contracts. The Agency noted that early repayment can be full or partial. For partial repayments, borrowers can choose either to shorten the loan term while keeping the monthly instalment unchanged, or to reduce the monthly instalment while keeping the term unchanged. Financial institutions may set internal early repayment procedures within the law, including minimum repayment amounts, application submission deadlines and settlement dates. Borrowers were advised to agree in advance with the bank on the recalculation method, the debit process, how insurance premium refunds are handled and the process for removing a mortgage encumbrance.
