The Central Bank of Russia published its regional inflation assessment for September, reporting notable services price increases across most regions, broadly unchanged food prices nationwide and only slight growth in prices for a wide range of non-food goods. Education services recorded a sharper seasonal increase than usual, while domestic tourism became cheaper. Fruit, vegetable and sugar prices declined as new harvest supplies increased, but egg prices rose noticeably on seasonal demand. Lower supply also pushed up prices for some cereals and fish products. Fuel inflation slowed markedly from June and July, with prices falling or remaining unchanged in one third of regions, while electronics became more expensive because of a weaker ruble and higher global component prices.
