The Bank of Namibia and the Namibia Statistics Agency published a recap of the inaugural Statistics Awareness Day, where officials and other stakeholders called for sustained investment in Namibia’s statistical systems and data infrastructure. Discussions focused on using reliable, timely and accessible official statistics to support monetary policy, financial stability, fiscal planning, investment and broader national development. Priorities included greater use of digital technologies, administrative and geospatial data, integrated platforms and responsible artificial intelligence. Participants also identified interoperability, reporting timeliness and limited data science and engineering capacity as continuing challenges, and called for stronger data governance, institutional collaboration, funding and skills development. The event also proposed developing consumer confidence indicators to strengthen economic analysis and policymaking.
