The National Bank of Denmark reported that Danish investors held DKK 471 billion of Asian listed shares at the end of July 2026, almost double the value in July 2023. Asian shares represented 10% of their listed equity holdings, with the increase driven mainly by investments in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan and by capital gains on suppliers to artificial intelligence infrastructure, although these share prices fell noticeably in July. The insurance and pension sector held DKK 300 billion of Asian shares, representing 16% of its listed equity investments. Asian shares accounted for 7% of households’ listed shareholdings and were owned mainly through Danish investment funds. Chinese shares totaled DKK 72 billion, including DKK 41 billion issued through Cayman Islands holding companies used by Chinese technology groups such as Tencent and Alibaba.
