The Central Bank of Taiwan published June 2026 turnover data for the Taipei foreign exchange market, showing total net trading volume of USD 1,157.6 billion after eliminating double counting from interbank transactions. Average daily turnover was USD 55.1 billion. The market data covers foreign exchange transactions conducted by authorized foreign exchange banks and offshore banking units. Interbank transactions accounted for 68.3% of turnover, versus 31.7% for transactions between banks and customers. Trading with foreign banks made up the largest single counterparty segment at 46.3%, followed by domestic banks at 22.0%. By currency pair, NTD/USD represented 48.5% of turnover, while third-currency trading accounted for 50.2%, led by USD/RMB at 11.6% and EUR/USD at 9.7%. By instrument, foreign exchange swaps were the largest category at 50.7%, ahead of spot transactions at 42.6%, with outright forwards and options accounting for 3.5% and 3.0% respectively. Direct dealing represented 65.0% of activity, compared with 35.0% executed through brokers. Separately, banks reported turnover of USD 15.8 billion in interest rate swaps and USD 4.8 billion in interest rate options.
