The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) ordered the cessation of insurance intermediation carried out through four websites offering insurance services without authorisation and initiated their blocking by internet service providers operating in Italy. Blocking activities are underway, with the effective shutdown potentially taking a few days for technical reasons. The sites named in the order are www.rca.airoldiassicurazioniarona.it and rca.airoldiassicurazioniarona.it, www.crespiassicurazioni.it, preventivi.mosmi.it, and www.realassicurazionivenaria.it and realassicurazionivenaria.it. The cessation orders are published in the “Defend ourselves from scams” section of the IVASS website, and the number of sites subject to such orders has risen to 229 since IVASS began exercising its blocking power in November 2023. IVASS also advised consumers to exercise caution with insurance offers made via the internet, telephone or instant messaging, particularly for temporary motor third-party liability policies, and to verify before paying that quotes and contracts relate to authorised insurers and intermediaries by consulting IVASS registers and lists, including the Register of Insurance Intermediaries (RUI).
